Think I have all the little bugs worked out of the new set up. I had some clearence issues with the driveshaft loop, my 3.5" driveshaft and the new umi conversion trans cross member. I had to drop the cross member 5/8". Once I did that the drive shaft was centered in the driveshaft loop. Speaking with umi tech support they had never heard of an issue with it, but there clearly was. The guy at umi was very helpful and kept in contact with me all day about what I could possibly do to make it right.
I took the car for a drive to test it all out. I will say every time I got on it, the car made me laugh. It is just stupid when you get on it. With the 4.10 gear though, I'm going to have to change out my 25.6" tall rear tire to a 28" to get the rpm down or I will be bouncing the rev limiter in the 1/4 mile.
The fti converter is unreal. Car pulls away like stock with very light throttle. Put some peddle in it while in second and the tires just go up in smoke. I need the car to hook better but it was comical to say the least.
The Rossler th350 is perfect. No complaints. When shifting it barks the tires under light throttle through all three gears. Reverse will take some time getting used to. You put the car in reverse, push in and hold the trans brake button while backing up to move. Again, no big deal, just after driving it for awhile I won't forget when backing up.
The engine the Claytons built for me loves to rev up fast. Pulls high rpm effortlessly. It loves the gear in the rear and trans gearing. Having the three speed, cruising has a higher rpm and the exhaust is a bit too loud for my liking. While it does sound good, it would be very annoying on a longer trip. It's a bit overwhelming in the car. Maybe its just me and getting older things tend to get on my nerves a bit more. The loudness is one thing I don't like.
Things left to do.... Finish putting all the interior back together. Clean up the car. Get the Qa1 coil over and springs in the front. Track down missing parts to my new accel dfi computer system. Program the speedo mph. Plumb in all the nitrous stuff. Figure out an intermitent issue with the mallory 685 box. Replace o rings on my fpr. Get the basic tune a bit closer so the afr is better. Program my new digital tach/ shift light combo.
Overall, I am extremely pleased with the set up. I am sure it will make great numbers in the 1/4 mile. It exceeds all my expectations so far. Should surprise a lot of people that's for sure.
