Hey all, I've been spending some time looking over my car and I've noticed there are some issues with the SLP air cleaner box that is on the car, there is a hairline crack that runs the whole length of the left side of the box. I'm going to see how hard it would be to fill in the crack with a two part epoxy, but I had a question about the K&N CA intake system for these cars. Is it worth spending the money on the K&N set-up or does SLP make a good box and I should look at the whole SLP system? Thanks,
<>< Sean

If you are referring to the exhaust and SLP performance packages, i would not consider them. they are way too expensive for what you get and you can get much more power for less money. SLP is over-priced PERIOD. They make a good lid for our cars that is competitive in price to others, but that's about it.

If the K&N set up for our cars was any good. I was looking at the Hooker Long Tube headers because, like you stated, the SLP just seemed WAY TOO much and the HP gains seems a bit exaggerated. See I was debating about getting the SLP Firehawk hood or finding a WS6 hood and having it repainted. <>< Sean

there are many different options if you are looking into a hood. Do a google search for hoods. The major companies that make hoods for our cars are VFN and truefiber. I have heard pros and cons for both, but personally I like VFN and have an Outlaw WS9 Hood on my car. It basicly a taller WS6 hood, with the heat extractor nostrils from a firehawk. I like it, but everyone has their own opinion. Part of the reason I went with VFN is because they are local and are based out of northern Illinois.

She's not all that into them, she like the Trans Am. She don't mind if i spend time or money on them just so long as I don't break the bank. She's glad to see that I'll be able to really work on this car, because otherwise I'm sitting around the house...now she can go off and do stuff with her sister and I won't be gone all the time. I used to race R/C cars a ton and I was gone ALL the time...way more then I'll ever be with this car. Plus she likes the fact we can go to car shows and cruse in the car. <>< Sean

sounds like that list is getting big I know....and my wife has only seen the first part of it.... Just a FYI... Plan on about a grand when it's all said and done for a new hood. 600-700 for the hood and 200-300 to get it painted. Unless you know someone who is willing to paint the hood on the cheap.

Now that is for stock/oem hoods so not sure about any aftermarket.
