If you are wanting suggestions for a H/C setup, we need to know what your goals for the car are. HP Levels? is the car a daily driver? Is gas mileage an issue? How high do you want to spin the engine? I would love to keep the car street legal(I have no way of towing her to the track ;D). Gas mileage will not be an issue because in about two months this car will not be a daily driver. What I'm worried about is doing this in the correct steps. I know that if I want the car to inhale better then it needs to exhale just as well. I also, know that first I need to get driveablity taken care of. So that means in the next few months getting the UMI suspension I want and then the trans taken care of. Then I'm thinking if I do the heads and the exhaust at the same time then I can kill two birds with one stone. If I've read right the LS6 intake is a good intake and I might want to look at a WS6 hood to aid with air flow. I have read that the SLP smooth intake hose helps also. To give you guys some background I started my major car work on Turbo Dodges...they are cheap and they go fast cheap. So I understand some of the ideas behind forced induction but I'm trying to wrap my head around NA setup. In a TD, there was no real gain from aftermarket cams so I never really looked and them and still need to understand what they do in regards to timing. In forced induction you need bigger injectors as you up boost, so do I need to worry about that in a NA set-up? Or do you worry about how much more fuel they deliver vs the PSI that they are? So to stay on point with this I guess what I'm looking for in the next year is some solid HP gains, maybe up to 400HP by the end of this year, because then through the winter I can save the cash for a new rear end. <>< Sean You are definately going in the right direction. Getting the power to the ground is half the battle so suspension upgrades are a good thing. Since gas mileage is not an issue, you would have absolutely no problem reaching your goal of 400rwhp. If you don't mind the car having a very pronounced lope to the idle it could be done with only a cam swap. Obviously changing out the heads helps with this, but the LS1 head flows fairly well. The LS6 intake is more than capable of supporting that kind of power level so there is no need to change it out. As far as a WS6 hood for better airflow is concerned, that is debatable. Some say it helps, others say it doesn't matter. Personally the only way a WS6 hood would help is at higher speeds for the ram air effect. That being said you can keep the sleek beak look if you like and get just as much airflow by using a sheet metal duct. There is a kit Speed Inc sells called the Chris1313 ram air kit, or if you are mechanically inclined you can make it up yourself. What it does is draw air directly from the underside of the front bumper and directs it up into your airbox. A WS6 hood is a major appearance modification, but if you are concerned with only functionality the ram air duct is a more pocket book friendly option. As far as the SLP Smooth bellows you are talking about, I have one you can have. Otherwise if you don't want that one, the same thing can be achieved by heading down to your local hardware store and buying a rubber plumbing coupler. I believe the size I used was 3"?? maybe a 4". For your goals, you could probably get away with 32# injectors (stock is 28.8). injectors aren't too bad and you can pick up a decent used set for around $250. Not sure about the brand new stuff, I would imagine slightly more.

Thanks a ton Phoenix. It sounds like I need to sit down and talk this out with you. I've priced out some of the UMI stuff so now it need to look at Converters.

I would be more than happy to talk with you further about your car. I am not going to tell you I know everything, and if I don't know the answer to a question I am not afraid to admit it. I will say that I am sort of ignorant when it comes to suspension, all I know is that it is a good upgrade (one of which I am lacking). As far as converters go, STAY AWAY FROM TCI!!! I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!! I have had friends with terrible luck with TCI torque converters. Edge, Circle-D, Midwest and I forget the one that Jim (JPACK) recommended, but i can tell you that they are safe. Again my personal bias for Midwest comes in because they are loca l(Rockford), have a very fast turnaround and are reasonably priced. Also the guy who oversees the shop is more than willing to talk with you and customize the converter for your needs.

BTW... The wheels you have appear to be C5 ZO6 replicas. Depending on what kind of tread is on them I would be interested in a trade. How are the wheels? any curb rash? My wheels are OEM 17" WS6 wheels.

My wheels are OEM 17" WS6 wheels. I will take pics for you, three of the tires are good, but one is in bad shape. I'm very interested, I just like the WS6 wheels, these look good. Now if I was done with everything else on the car I would get wheels like what JPACK has. <>< Sean

Suspension is my thing along with wiring. I love to dial it all in and get the power to the ground. Again, what you want out of the car will dictate the route to go.
As for the torque converter option... I went with FTI over Neal chance. Reason being is their torque converters are built different than anyone. What sold me was the bearings are all captive and if for some reason the bearings were to fail, being captive doesn't blow them apart and won't take out the converter or our trans.
You call them up, give them some details and they make it for you. I ordered mine late in the day on a Friday, it was out the door shipped and made on the following Monday. It was in my hands in a week. I paid $795 shipped for my billet race converter with all the goodies. Now you won't be throwing what I am at it so yours would be cheaper.
They are also one of the only companies out there that have videos of them being made and what goes into them. Go on YouTube and search FTI converters. They have a two part video they did and will detail exactly why I went with them.

Excellent decision. That way you can get a wish list together and pricing. You can also plan out what should be done in what order to get you to your goals.
